Hey people hows every1 doing?

I got a red vn s-pac and looking 2 make it look exactly like a vn ss. Im gonna respray it atlas grey with the lip spoiler on the boot. Im not going 2 put ss decals on it koz it aint an ss. The only problem is that with the new laws 4 P-plates, they cant drive a high modified 6 or a v8 so i cant get an ss. Vic roads hav told me that respraying the car, lowering it and having an exhaust is "highly" modified but when i called up another time the guy said it was fine as long as i didnt do much 2 da engine. me and a mate r gonna respray da car next year koz im still on my Ls 4 another 5 months. hes a panel beater an ill get it done 4 bout $500 which is cheap.

does anyone kno alot about these new rules here in victoria about p-plate regulations and all dat crap??

As far as I am aware, you are only banned from modifying the engine. Now, there is some debate as to how far engine goes (transmission....etc), and what 'modifying' means (if a standard part breaks, and you are unable to get a standard part second hand, are you able to replace it with a new part?).

I know nothing of restrictions on paint and bodywork.

Yea the first guy said that it is still a modification koz im changing the color. If i spray it bak 2 red then it isnt a modification u kno?? It s stupid tho koz how the hell is the color going 2 make my car any faster???

The Laws are for 'performance' modifications.

Going from Red to grey is technically ok, going the other way wouldn't be, cause we all know red cars are faster

the second guy at vic roads said that its ok to change the color. every1 must b running round in circles not knowing wots going on in there koz 1 guy says 1 thing then da other guy says another thing.

also another question, my s-pacs a manual and i got no other manual car and when i go 4 my p's its gonna hav 2 b in dat car. would vic roads giv me a yellow canary if i pull up 2 go 4 my ps in a hotted up vn?? r they really that tight??

My interpretation is that its to do with power, so lowering it and painting wont count, however, the exhaust will contribute to an increase in power, ie, no deal.

Preformance is a very general word, its more an analytical review of a device/person's actions. Technically, preformace mods would prevent lowering as it aids in improving (ie. greater preformacne) the centre of gravity, improving steering etc... so, not allowed.

brake upgrades wouldnt be allowed eaither...

its to do with engines and associated power, ie, no boring, stroking, lifters, rockers etc. = no deal

hey we got those laws here in qld aswell. and i was thinking of upgradeing me breaks as all vn breaks are crap and i cant even do that lol like it is a performance upgrade i know, BUT its also makeing the car safer.


these laws r a good thing BUT i do think they have gone a bit overboard on the resrtictions

Yeah its the only good thing about having a canberra license. i like over taking nsw p platers while im going 110 and they are only aloud to go 90 or some crap haha.

He ment no speed restrictions for P platers, and to stay the posted speed limit (which is for all road users)
