hello how will i stop the leak in the power steering pump. the tube at the bottom of the resivor box that connects to the top of the pump is leaking and i dont know if theres something that has to go there like a plasic plug or something that goes on the tube at the bottom of the resivor box so can you give me advice on taking a pump off a vn and sealing it and where seals have to go to and the sizes of the different o rings for a vn/vp/vr power steering pump.
if thats all that is leaking its easy to replace - shouldnt be any seals or anything on that hose. any repco or similar should stock em. when u take it off though u may lose ya power steering fluid and have to redo fill and bleed it. when u take the hose off just check around the plastic reservoir bottle theres no damage to the plastic or anything - it may just be an old hose thats had its day.
yeah its actually comming from the connection that connects to the hole at the top of the pump so does there have to be anything like a plug that connects the tube of the resivor to the hole in the top of the pump.
can you list the components of the vn/vp power steering pump.
Power steering pump --------- 1) has top hose and bottom hose
bottom hose is a screw in adaption with a small O ring inside it going to the radiator.
top hose is a normal hose like a radiator one but smaller - it should have a hose clamp at either end just like your radiator ones. the top hose only slips onto a small section at both ends so the hose clamps need to positioned corectly then tightened up. its possible if they were ever done tooooo tight then they may hav pierced the rubber resulting in a small leak over time - or could well be damaged.
u may find the pump is actually leaking from the pump itself but under pressure looks like its coming from the hose - i did mine recently similar problem - i couldve sworn it was the hose leaking but after taking it off u can see where its been leaking from
