    Default Bonnet issues

    hello

im having some bonnet issues, when driving either at 50 or 100k into a head wind the bonnet is bouncing around like its about to open.

i noticed that above the head lights is a large gap and theres a slope on top of the light which would force air under the bonnet.

is there supposed to be this gap or are some kind of caps missing?

    Thanks

hi, either the spring on the bonnet needs ajusting and or it is buggered or the lock could be stuffed. on the good side your geeting cold air in you engine bay at 100 clicks=more power

    Hope that helps

    lol cheers.

i know that the cable is stretched so it requires 2 people to open it, one to pull the lever and another to push the bonnet down above the spring and then it opens

id check that the bonnet catch is ok if i were you. extra cold air is great, but the last thing you need is a new sun shade (your bonnet) on your windscreen on the way home.

If the ****er opens at even 50, it will flick wide open, snap off the struts, and smash your screen, as well as putting a crease in the roof.

If you are really unlucky, you may even collect a tree or another car, because you cant see crap through a bonnet-screen. Not pretty.

There should be rubber stops screwed into the radiator support panel which if incorrectly adjusted will allow the bonnet to move. They often go missing. If they are corrrectly adjusted they can help a sticking bonnet sometimes too, by preloading the bonnet against the catch.

    Hi All,

Yes I too have seen this with my car. The bonnet vibrates in the wind only when the cat is at speed though. All my bonnet catches work ok and all the under bonnet rubber stops are in place. Has anyone else had this problem? Because I don't think there is a quick fix for this.

The oversize pin with the big spring on it in the centre or the bonnet can be adjusted to realign the bonnet height ,just use a big screwdriver , Clockwise screws it in . First screw the rubber stops all the way in then adjust the bonnet pin so the bonnet is flush with the guards then wind up the rubbers so the bonnet just touches them when fully closed.
