    Default what do i do next on da vp v8

    the fuel pump works.. i brought an ignition module that was out of a working vr.ss and it still doesnt startt?? what do i do now

    the hall effect sensor in the distributor
    or buy a book and replace the broken fuse

    thanks foamy :P,, the book he took it off ebay lol!
    i told him to sell it to me but he said hes gna relist it

    well where is the sensor located n the broken fuse?

    Hall effect sensor is in a mongrel of a place. It's in the distributor under the back of the inlet manifold. If it fails (Or when I forget to plug it in ) it will stop spark. They don't fail real easy though. Fuses, well I dunno which one foam's on about, but you've got two options there's the fuse box under the bonnet on the drivers side, pull and check each one. Then there's the fuse panel under the dash, take out the two toggle things to allow the under dash thingy panel to swing down, then pull and check each fuse. If that aint your problem then you might need to look at your coil and dizzy. (Assuming spark is the problem.)

    it spinsss it was about to start it when "burrr buff" :P well i dont know what it could be ill check it out tmorow the distributor if its disconnected.. and the fuses which i checked kazillions of times thanks for da info


    edit... well would u no what fuses it could be?? =0 tNX

    how did u get to the distributor??? just took off da leads? and un screwed it?

    To get at the distributor, you have to take the cap off it. I don't reccomend taking the leads off as their positions aren't marked on the cap, so it's a bitch figuring out what goes where later on. So you undo the two clips and lift the cap off, then maneuver the bastard up around the back of the manifold. You may need to move some hoses and crap. Once you've got the cap off, check that there is a spring loaded graphite button in the centre, if not then you've just found out why you have no spark. Check that the rotor, (arm in the dizzy that goes round) has a clean surface. Check to make sure that there is a flat plug attached to the back of the distributor.

    Anything more in depth than that is going to require the removal of the inlet manifold. The coil might also be suspect, if none of this helps, try removing the coil from the back of the inlet manifold (passenger side) and we'll tell you how to test it. There ya go, ****loads of fun to be had.

    first thing i reccomend you do, is try a different computer, mine stuffed up a while back and my car wouldn't start, because the computer was stuffed. any VN/VP computer will work too, you just have to put your chip in it.

    even a v6 computer?? with the v8 memcal?

    coz at the moment i dont have a v8 ecu around

    V8 memcal in V6 ECU will work fine.

    tryed the ecu thing just thenn.. and figured out only one thing the vn one starts the fuel pump but still does not START like b4 putting da fuel pump manually to the battery on da v8 ecu

    Well at least it's progress. Anyway, my next suspect would be coil. Before you go pulling that off though, just make sure you actually have no spark. Pull a lead off and either hold it near a metal part of the bay while cranking, or if you're feeling brave close your fist around it. If you've got spark you'll know about it, and your problem will be elsewhere.
