Default Grinding in the steering wheel

Like it says one day my steering wheel started grinding, theres a little switch that is touching a plate that connects the horn to the... umm horn. its causing the grinding sound and also putting little brass shavings everywhere, however if i pull the little switch away from the plate the horn doesnt work anymore

How can i keep my horn working and stop the switch from grinding down any further? it has to be a metal to metal contact i think so i cant rubber it up. Lube?

Ill post some pics if u dont get where it is???

This guy describes the pin thingy too. Horn
But he has a different problem.

The little copper contact is spring loaded, so it souldn't be scraping against the wheel. The spring could be stuffed, could need some WD 40 or replacing.

Also the brown plastic part that holds the copper contact contains the the non moving part. Try checking to see if its a tad loose.

i'll 2nd that - put a small amount of grease on it.
Also check that the copper contact hasn't snapped off causing a rough edge.

Had a look at mine today, started making a noise. Fixed mine by gluing the copper part that is in the brown plastic part. (unplug it first, then apply a little bit of glue) If you can pull the entire assembly out, then thats your problem right there, the back part where the wire plugs in needs to be stuck in place to allow the spring loaded bit to work properly.

Don't do what i did first time it played up, i pulled the whole thing out and replaced with a screw.... Not a whole lot of fun trying to clean all those shavings out from the column.

If your still having problems, let me know.
