    Default T5 synchros, HELP!!

does anybody know what material the synchros in the T5 box are made from, was doing an oil change on the trans this morning and found very fine steel shavings in the bottom of the box when i waved a magnet through it.

looks like the trans will be coming out very soon

i did miss 2 shifts last week and it didn't sound good, i hope it's only the synchro thats stuffed.

i crunch it sometimes when i get a lil carried away lol I have a few troubles selecting reverse sometimes tho, it tends to crunch a bit unless i click up to 1st beforehand.

Also, any ideas if its hard to replace a bearings in the T5. my mate reckons the 'front bearing' (thats what he said) is worn or wearing out? The box howls a little in 1st, and howls a lot when slowing down using 2nd.
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

never actually done a T5 but it looks like i'll haveto do one soon, when changing bearing on the main shaft/layshaft etc you gotta make sure you get the preload correct etc and check the syncho settings and movement. been abloody long time since i've had to do anyhting with pulling a manual trans down so looks like i'll be reading the manual first. hoping it's just the bearings.

just finished changingthe fluid and i'm takingthe missusout for lunch so i'll see how noisy it is now
