    Default LSD or NOt

how do you tell the difference between a lsd diff and a non lsd diff

i am currently looking at a diff and went to look at it and they guy said its lsd by only spins one wheel but needs rebuild then it will spin two

could someone provide me with a picture of the two different centres (one lsd centre and one single spinner centre)

the code on the diff was
    P/N 92034579
    ser no. 2657

you can't really tell for sure unless you pull the center apart, but turn one axle and the other should turn in the same direction, or if it is a worn LSD the other axle should not turn at all, but if the other axle turns in the oppisite direction, it is open wheeler.

if you have a lsd that's worn, is it generally cheaper to get it reco'd or get a new one?

depends on if you do the work yourself or not, pow3rslave!

    if so, rebuild
if not - up to the diff guy .... less in labor, more in parts

oh and the magical "do i have an lsd" thread.

cost me about 150 for new internals for my LSD, and cheap as to assemble and fit it. If i were to buy a new one, id get a 2 pin BW LSD as found in Fraud AU XR8. Reliable sources tell me that they are MUCH stronger then the BW 4 pin units in commos. Wait for the price on the new one tho... $675 supplied only stuff that! might as well Kaaz it or just rebuild yours
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

as luke said, look for the extra ring of bolts on the bottom of the diff thats a DEAD give away also look thru the axel part, if you can see a pin its a single spinner, if you cant see thru it at all (like it dosnt go through) then its a lsd,

this is my lsd, notice the extra bolts... i didnt know when i brought my first one, and turned out it was a broken single spinner....

You're much better off getting it rebuilt... A big difference between a freshly rebuilt and TIGHT lsd and a decent condition second hander.
