Also know as a beaming brace. Sorry no pic but it bolts between the sump and the lower part of the (I'm assuming automatic) transmission. Six 13mm head nuts on the sump end, 4 X 15mm head bolts on the trans. end. Naturally, it's an iron casting . The alternative will be a sheet metal cover. The beaming brace is on the later versions of the VN.

    ok kiddies listen up!

vn series 1 has the thin INSPECTION plate cover, it covers up the flex plate/torque converter...

vn s1 is about 1mm thick and has 4 bolts, 2 screw thread with a 10mm head on them and 2xlarge allen key type bolts., vn s2/vp is the 5mm thick cast iron cover with the 6 bolts that extend from the sump and bolts up on the trans aswell...

considering i just converted from a vn s1 to a vp s2 engine, i used the 1mm thick plate as its 10000x easier to get off (you dont have to drop the steering rack to get it off)

i reccomend swapping its worth it...

notice this picture, u can see them both in the shot

yip my vps2 i had to grind the beaming brace between the second and third bolt on the drivers side sump bolts holding the beaming brace too the engine too get the header too fit just had too scallop it out for one tube to get clearance trusty angle grinder cut it out in no time did have too put the header in a few times got 5mm clearance round the tube now my instructions said earlier vn's you need too remove the beaming brace all together and s2 vn and vp just too modify it my mate put some on vns1 the other day without modification and didnt get clearance issues but it might not of had the beaming brace on there too start with so you fired it up yet paradox616
