    Default keys

hello i have lost my keys for the car, its a vp v6 sedan, im just wondering if i can have all the old locks coded to any pre cut keys you buy from repco or holden and can you get a alarm key lock coded to a new key or not, or am i up for all new locks.

can you give me ideas on what the following would cost.

recoding all the old locks to a new precut key (rough idea on labour seprate)

recoding the alarm key hole to a new precut key (rough idea on labour seprate)

getting all new locks and coding them all to one key (rough idea on labour seprate)

getting a new key hole for the alarm and coding it to another alarm key (rough idea on labour seprate)

    2 new vp remotes

precut keys for the locks and the alarm

First of all, your Remote. Which type was it, was it flat on the back, or did it curve inwards. If its the flat one, you can still get them. If its the curved one, no-one stocks them, and you wont find them on ebay (i've been looking but still can't find one)

Holden can reprogram a remote, but you have to take the car too them.

Do you have the security card that comes with the car from factory? I doubt you will, but on there, is the number holden would need to cut you another key. Obviously you'd still have to show proof of ownership

well the remote its retangle with one button on it roughly about 50 x 25-30mm so would you be able to buy the vp rectangle remotes

what do you mean about the security card would a rego paper with the vin number be good enough

and can i reuse my old locks if i get a new precut key or do i have to have new locks because they work good and the same with the alarm key hole

Sounds like yours is the common remote type.

Both types are rectangle, i mean the bottom of the remote. One curves inwards, and one is flat.

Mine is curved, and has 2 buttons, which makes me think yours is the flat one.

I'm not talking about rego papers either. From the factory holden gave every car a card (same size as your license, but just laminated paper).
It has these things on it:

    P.S.N. (your Vin)
    Ignition Key number
    Radio Pin
    Theft deterrent
    Remote Key Number
    Override key number

Without this, i don't know how they will be able to recut a key, unless your lucky and they have this info on their database. Pretty sure VP around series 2 (some series 1) was the cut off, and they wont have the details.

You have lost me mate. Only 1 key will work your locks (unless you have a VL, then any VK/L key will open and start it haha)

If you get a new key, you will need new locks and ignition barrel.

there is a little thing inside the remote that changes the frequency that you can turn then press the button untill it works your car someone else did it on here the key should open and start the car if it is the spare for it .if all else fails pull the drivers door skin off youll find that there is a key cutting number on the back of the doorlock key tumbler well at least there allways used to be not sure on the later models

You can buy them. I think holden still have them in stock, and they can reprogram them. But you have to have the car with you to reprogram them

if you have an old one that you can get working jaycar sell a programable one but you need a working remote to program the new one the "thing" i was saying about turning is an adjustable capacitor very fragile but you could turn it too get another remote working enough to program the jaycar remote
