Hahaha yea, common problem so I hear. Some people just give up trying to make it work, and come up with a home solution to allow the system to backfire safely.
Favourite one, is drilling a 1" hole in the plastic intake runner, then sleeving a stubby holder over it, and securing it with cable ties. When the system backfires, the pressure is released through the stubby holder, instead of through your exploding airbox![]()

ya it does..sometimes it back fires really bad...like something blew up...otherwise ya it sounds mad coz of the exhaust...do you noe which place would be the best to get it tuned and how much would it cost? and this should fix my air box breaking? is there anything else that could coz it?
If it is just the ignition system, it is no different from petrol and you can do it yourself; 'plugs + leads. If it is (a) coil(s) or DFI, you can still DIY but the diagnosis is slightly more involved. If the fault lies with the gas system, then you will have to take it to a workshop.
Keeping your foot off the accelerator when cranking may help too - not all systems disable the starter with the throttle open.
go get a gas tune. mine blew up air boxes years ago from back firing. i recently got it dyno tuned, hasnt backfired and goes pretty good on gas too. ive got a pod filter on it now and runs sweet.

thnx guys..ill get it tuned and prob get a tune and prob get a pod filter if it make da car a tini bit faster.
check the plugs and put some new leads on ive fixed a couple of backfiring VS v6 lpg's that used to blow boxes too bits both times the plug gaps were too small and the leads were old ones the leads need changing regulary on lpg cause they cause back firing had a crack in the rubber that joins to the throttle body from blowing check for leaks there .put some new plugs in there set them at 1.5mm they are meant to be slightly smaller for lpg 1.4mm or something but i had no problems with them at 1.5mm neither car has backfired for 3 months even holden had tried to stop it i was a last resort cause they heard i was tuning commodores all fixed and going better than ever.
oohhh this brings back memories to a few weeks ago when the old belina wagon was giving some serious back firing grief ,,just changed the leads and plugs as others have suggested and problemo fixed ,,,but still looking for a new air box (gaffa tape is my friend at the moment)

lol...
If you want it done not shonky.. tune the gas system, ensure your using the right plugs.. and you can buy this piece.. so when it backfires, it blows thru the piece as opposed to thru the box![]()
