Im converting muy car to manual and am currently in the process of buying a new flywheel, and they it is described in the auction confuses me.
1) i am wondering if vn series 2 manual and auto have the same crank (8 bolt)
2) if that flywheel will suit what i am doing (link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...09&permanent=0)
Thanks
1) Yes Series 2 vn onwards have the same cranks
2) i have heard about these adapter plates there is one user on this forum who says he has one of these in his car when it got converted to manual
as far as i can tell the vn s1 auto/manual were the same cranks, just 6 bolters...
but yes my engine was a manual in lukes car now its a auto in my car and its a VPII
ok so what i want to know is that flywheel in the auction which you can see in the link at the top
Will it be the right one to use when I am converting my Series 2 Vn to manual??
heh when i had the engine out im not sure how your ment to change the rear main in the car anyway on a s2... its something id remove the engine to change
anyway either way VN S2 onwards are the same, vn s1 are diffrent...
crs do the flywheels (customs for vn s1's) they cost around $300 for the flywheel which isnt that pricey
The flywheel in the auction will be fine for your VN S2 conversion, its a direct replacement for the S2 flywheel.
OK, here is the differences
VN series 1 auto: 6 bolt small diameter rear flange crankshaft (flush with rear of block)
VN series 1 manual: 6 bolt large diameter rear flange crankshaft (protudes by 1" or so from rear of block
VN series 2 to VR and all Ecotecs manual & auto: 8 bolt crankshaft (flush with rear of block).
All VN series 2 onwards flywheels can be interchanged, but with an ecotec the balance is different. So to use a VN series 2 to VR flywheel on an ecotec it must be rebalanced to suit.
