What series is it? The SI had the top radiator hose goes around the back of the intake manifold (under the throttle body), You need to remove the throttle body in order to remove the thermostat elbow peice (1 bolt). if your replacing it you need a new o-ring. SII are much easier, its located at the motor.

Yeah, it's not the hose you need to remove - it's the housing that the hose sits in. There will be two bolts on the housing flange, which go downward into the motor - you'll have to remove them. You will also need a new thermostat gasket I believe.

There might only be one bolt on the series one, I'm too lazy to go outside and check

    yep 1 bolt,
joshovn. remove the intake tube, throttle body (2 bolts?) and associated hoses etc, throttle cable, enough the move it out of the way. Then you can get to the bolt on the thermostat housing. You need a new o-ring when replacing it. have fun

yes they can be a pain to remove those housings so your saying it just clicks now when you try turn it over? sounds like a dead battery to me.
