little ball under the air box??

just wondering if anyone can tell me what the little ball is under the airbox.. it hooks up to a vaccum line. i am thinking it could be something to do with heater controls.. i have taken the little ball off as i am going to run intercooler piping there. but i am thinking i will have to mount it somewhere else..

You are correct it is vacuum storage for the heater controls. As far as i know its so the heater controls still work when the engine is making no vacuum i.e. wide open throttle. Without it, the heater vents will close when the engine isnt making vacuum and then open again when it starts making vacuum again.

ok. bugga. i don't know where i will mount it. there might still be room under there after the piping gotes through..

Dont worry about putting it back!! For those few seconds you are mashing the Carpet, I wouldnt think you would notice a difference in room temp.... Unless you drive everywhere at full noise.....
