i just put a new cd player in everythings sweet all the wires are right and the thing was working but when some of the wires were bare they touched each other and caused a spark n the cd player shut off... i checked the fuse for the radio power and it was blown so i changed it using the right fuse n tried again but it doesnt work now.... would i of buggered the actual cd player or is it something else\
ta
did u check the other fuses in the engine bay or under the steering wheel, if ther fine then i got no idea :P u probli hav ruined the cd player
i would say you have blown more than the CD player fuse, check the other fuses, i doubt the CD player is stuffed
We got rep back, yaaay!
Also remember to check the fuse on the cd player itself. it sounds like that may hvae blown.
good luck
thats what i was going to say lol
yeh either the fuse on the cd player and/or under the steering wheel has blown...........however im not too sure if there is aa fuse in the engine bay for the radio (pretty sure theres not)
but sometimes (only sometimes) people that owned the car before u may have don some DIYwireing and may have wired it up to another fuse aswell as the radio one so just quickly check them all just too be safe:
cheers
yeah the bloke before me was a hack n did the dodgey on everything!!!![]()
ive checked the fuse on the cd player thats all fine
and every fuse under the steering wheel is fine aswell starting to **** me off having to leave my car at home for mums 4wheel drive!!
everything been checked and seems to be fine except the thing doesnt turn on
was it fused on the wire that goes direct to the battery
hmm not too sure about this but maybe there is also a fuse "insid" the cd player its self (i know theres one at the back of i)...........hopefully u havent shrted the cd player out but yeh the fuse should have blown befor that happens (should lol)
yeah hopefully lol.... i keep plugging it in n just hoping that it turns on lol but each time i get my hopes up i get crushed again when it doesnt work lol
spose ill just have to take just the cd player to tonkins or a car audio place n see what they have to say...
so much for a cheap diy job thats gone to the ****ta
i did the same thing in my VN but i got a calais with an electric arial, and it so happened that when i blew that fuse it stopped the radio working even tho the radio fuse was ok. i replaced the arial fuse and it was fine once again
to test if the cd player is toast or not, just connect it directly to your battery or a spare one if u have 1 handy. just get the constant 12v wire and the acc wire onto the positive terminal and the ground onto the negative and see if it powers up. if it doesn't you have blown the main IC fuse inside the headunit which means its toast and may or may not get fixed under warranty(if u have warranty and how old it is depends on that). i've had this happen to me before with my very first headunit install.
or get a multimeter and see if theres power to the back of the headunit and the fuse holder.
basically see if u can find out how far the power gets
