got my chips, now to burn it

well ive got my AT29c256 chips, ive got the jumpers set correctly.. got the dip switchs set, if i do GET ID it gives me the chip name, if i do a blank check the chip is not emty, so then i press ERASE and the thing counts to 60 seconds, and the progress bar goes to 100%, but then it says Erase Chip Fail (time Out). when i choose this chip. i get an information bar come up and say.

PCB3/A/B/ setting jumper
Willem PCB Short ZIF32 PIN3 < - > PIN31

does this have anything to do with it? its really annoying me now i was gettin ready to start testing some chips but i cant even erase the chip to burn something.

you have too put a wire in the zif with the eeprom you need too put it between pin 3 and pin 31 some of the willems didnt have the jumper so you have to do it manually with a bit of wire if you have the wrong willem

Don't you have the 28 pin atmels? if you do you don't need to erase them (gives a error like you say) they just erase when you burn them so it's pointless anyway, just hit burnnnnnnn
