howdy just wondered how hard is it to take the engine out of a vp v6 and replace the rear main seal and sump gasket properly and put it back in, ill look for information as well but if yous can help out that would be good.
the following is done with a engine hoist on a flat peice of concrete, otherwise you use the old a-frame trick and lots of manovering.
1. chock back wheels.
2. disconnect battery.
3. undo the exhaust manifold at the flange on both sides
undo the front cooling lines for the gearbox at the radiator end.
unclip wirng loom that connext the intake manifold.
disconnect aircompressor from main part of body, and manover it above the airbox. (keeps gas in)
undo intake pipe. throttle cable, iac tps and map sensor cables and vacume lines.
disconnect the dfi moduel, knock sensor, crank angle sensor.
undo and remove high pressure line and reutrn line from the power steering pump
undo and remove the fuel line, and return line
disconnect and move out of the way both radiator hoses, uper and lower, depending on series you may need to remove one from the radiator to the top of the motor, remove the heater tap connection (depending on series either at front or back of donk, just behind intake manifold.
undo the rear gearbox mount's, and suport with a trolly jack,
disconnect the wiring loom there for the gearbox, and the shift selector if a manual.
undo the front engine mounts at the bottom of engine.
mark and remove the bolts for the bonnet, being carefull depending once again on series as to where the windscreen washer jets pipe is.
and simply lift and manover it out. put it on a spare tyre or something. be carefull when lifting the engine out as sometimes the dipstick for auto may and does get caught on anything it can find. reffiting is in reversal, however disconnet the tail shaft and slide the tailshaft in to the back of gearbox yoke first (this will involve removal of the center bearing and hand brake cable)
those are the steps for a full removal.
when you remove the torque converter bolts it's strongly sugested you replace them with new ones. and whle it's out, i highly recomend you also do the welsh plugs.
cheers

i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
wheres the tps and knock sensor
thought i'd thread dig this instead of starting a new thread.
the instructions above look like they cover everything, just a few questions.
mines manual, so obviously no cooling lines to the tranny.
if i'm taking the gearbox out at the same time, what will i need to unplug/remove from it? can i keep the same pedal box and clutch cable if i'm going to a v8 t5?
