Anyone tried putting one off a VT-VZ into a VN-VS?? I'd like one. And a trans cooler. For BOTH my cars.

definitly won't hurt it. i'd recommend a trans cooler anyways, the biggest you can find. the power steering shouldn't need a cooler unfortunatly holdens are known for killing there power steering pumps. using better fluid then the recommended detron III is a start but the cooler will help also

Better fluid like what? I didn't know there was better stuff around.... Pardon my ignorance lol
Will a VT-VZ steering cooler actually fit? I don't have one and as such haven't had a play around with it.
As soon as I can afford it, both my cars are getting fresh radiators (thickest I can find for a good price, probably just v8 ones), twin thermos and good sized trans coolers. Are the trans coolers Holden sell big enough or should I look for something bigger?

I just put a auto cooler on my car for the power steering, i have it between the A/C evaporator (?) and the radiator, drilled two hoses in the radiator bracket that holds the radiator in and installed two gromets.

What cooler did you use?

My old auto transmission cooler, about 15 mm thick and three loops of tubing in it

On the topic of power steering coolers, are there better ones (bigger) out there than the VT-VZ loop of piping across the front of the radiator? I know the BA and BF XR falcons at least have vanes on their cooler, but are there big ones like trans cooler size available? I have a feeling I saw something a while back in SC magazine but can't find it...

I've emailed Davies Craig, just because they are a big name in the cooling sort of area, regarding possibilities for thermo setups on my VR... If they come back with a helpful reply, I might ask them about this too..

Buy a small 4cyl type trans cooler for arnd $50 & plumb that into your PS return line.I've rebuilt sooo many Holden P/S pumps, too many now to crap on about.Heat kills them I believe. We're doing this on my son's VN.The Hi pressure line has the thick sealed connected pipe whereas the pipe with the lame jubilee clip on it is simply the return.Install it sumwhere out of the way in front of the condenser if you have A/C.Can only be a benfit in the long run as it seems GMH P/S Pumps r pox..

Hi Sam,
Thanks your further enquiry. We have a transmission cooler kit configured for Commodore VN-VS, our part # 685.
We also have a power steering cooler avaiable which should suit the Commodore, our part #1009.
Hope this assists,
Best Regards,

wtf as if a power steering cooler will achieve anything...
and i'm starting to wish i'd taken your advice on not overfilling the power steering fluid, it's making a weird whining sound :S
pos car, i'm so getting a VF Calais :P at the end of fourth year
Power steering coolers should have been standard fitment on all commodores and HSVs. They all have trouble with the fluid overheating. Nice to see you back again though Cogez, I thought you'd gone into hibernation
Oh and a word of warning: when my VN started making that noise I had to replace the PS pump.
