Ahhhh you can change it if you like. Replace it with some good penrite oil. The stuff doesn't need to be changed that often for a standard diff really. If you've got a good LSD that you drive hard, I'd perhaps suggest replacing the oil every 30,000.

You can do it once a year if you want. Helps keep things fresh, and it's not expensive

I got a very loud noise in the back of the car some times, is it the diff or the petrol pump? if it is the diff I will definitely change it. where is the drain plug for the thing?

Plug = the thing on the back plate made of rubber that you can prise off with a screwdriver. Try everything - it won't take you long to find the rubber

Oh, and it's not a drain plug - it's a filler plug. You drain the diff fluid through the bottom bolt of the cover plate. Remove the bolt. and let the fluid drain through it. Then, once empty, fill the diff through the rubber filler plug until it is level with the plug (assuming the car is level and not jacked up), then close it up and you're done!

I changed mine on the weekend depending on how full of crap and how long since it was last changed it may not just leak out the bottom bolt. when i changed mine i had all the bolts out and there was no oil coming out n e where. you may need a new gasket if you have to break the seal, i personaly prefer to take the housing off therefore you get all of the crap and metal shavings out and you get to see if there is n e damage.

that's cause the s1 diff housing doesn't have the drain hole throught the bottom bolt. mine doesn't either. first time i did mine, i removed cover, drained oil, then squirted fresh oil through the diff center to flush all the crap out. then refitted cover and filled with good oil. definitly spend a little extra on the oil if it's LSD. once done, maybe do the diff oild when the transmission (mines a manual so gets done more often) otherwise do it every second engine oil change. do LSD diffs more often then a standard open diff, the LSD cones are wearing parts and contaminate the oil. clean oil will help it live longer
