Hi all, got a newby here, so i wanna start with a hello to you all and what a great site this is. Now down to buisness.
I want to lower my VN commodore and i am not sure how low to go. I was thuinking of a 2 to 2 1/2 inch drop, now is this to low or ok, see i want to also fit 18s under there with it and have no troubles?
Any opinions will be greatly appreciated and info on what some of you have lowered your cars to.
Thanks for taking the time to read this any and all replies will be greatly appreciated.
if your lowering around 2.5" and fitting 18s make sure you get an adjustable panhard rod otherwise the diff wont be aligned properly and one of your wheels will scrub
And you may need to have your rear guards rolled anyway, because you're probably going to get scrub with passengers on superlows with 18s regardless of diff alignment ^^
2" is a nice drop, though. looks tough, and isn't "slammed". Too low, and you become cop bait![]()

I had lovells lows in my car, and 18s on it briefly, was perfect, not too low, not too high, and a better ride and better handling than king springs
I had my guards rolled to run 245 rubber on my walkys, but my 17s fit no problems with 235 and no adjustable panhard rod
if you lower your car do you need to change the shockers? or will the stock ones be okay?
Depends on how low you go. Lows and FE2 should be alright with stock shocks, but it's a good idea to get shortened shockers on the rears, so the springs don't pop out at full extention
It's always a good idea to go shortened shocks all 'round, though. Will handle better, feel better - and you can't go wrong upgrading from the factory outfit.![]()

I had superlows allround on my VN but the back sat up high still didnt like it so dropped it more. had 18s had to roll the gaurds didnt have an ajustable P-bar and didnt have shorten shocks, they lasted a year lol.
i have been told that lowering a vn requires you to move the centre bearing part of the tailshaft to get it aligned properly and stop vibration.
anyone know if there is any truth to this?
