Quick question about the vn-vp gear stick..

Ive been told the blue coloured drive is for economy driving and the the D under that is overdrive, but ive also been told the opposite to that..since I have no manual can someone tell me what is correct.
Also what are the other gears like 2 and 1 for? towing ****?
    they go :
    P
    R
    N
    D (blue)
    D (white)
    2
    1

blue D enables overdrive (4th gear), white D wont go past 3rd. blue D is better for cruising at a constant speed, white D is better for suburbs/city.etc. if you find it keeps jumping back and forth between 3rd and 4th then better off selecting white D.

Awesome, thanks for the fast replies, when i first got my vn I drove it around in the white D for months w/o thinking twice and then i was told the D was better for basically just driving not pulling weight or anything.

I started driving in the blue and I noticed i dont use **** all fuel compared to the other drive, but i noticed it does have problems hanging around 4th gear since if u drive at a constant 80km it just slips back to 3rd.

THing I noticed is it seems the white D is more powerful in lower gears, anyways nm i got my answer now heh

you use the white D when:
    1. you are racing someone (on a race track), or
    2. you are towing and don't want to risk overstressing and overheating the transmission by allowing it to select 4th gear

as said, the white D just keeps it out of 4th gear. the VN is a hydraulic trans and there is no capability to adjust shift patterns, so it otherwise shifts the same in either position.

this topic has come up a little bit and from what ive read, white D is for anything below 60km/h and blue D is for anything above ie. highway etc...

basically white D is gears 1-3

blue D enables over drive (4th)

    cheers
