Vn executive sw. Auto gearbox is quite harsh between 2/3. Seems to stick in second but eventually changes up. Any ideas on a cure?
possiably a incorrect adjusted kick down cable
could be seals gone inside.
try changing the oil but if it's internal, you might need to kiss it goodnight.
have a play with the kick down cable if mates stuff around with it and dont no what there doing it will send it all stupid does it hold every gear? how fast do you have to go before it clicks 2nd 25km 35km?
Had another look and I was wrong. It's 1st to 2nd that sticks. Thought it was 4-speed but it only uses 4th as o/drive.
yeah have a play with the kick-down cable. i cant remember if to loosen or tighen for lower change. just mark the cable with a texta or somewthing so if all fails you know how it was. but remember.. just one click/notch adjustment will make a big difference.
btw, it is 4-speed. 4th is known as overdrive..
Well, tried adjusting the kick-down, today. First I tried the way the book says. Didn't seem to work. It says "Depress the metal tab and pull the outer cable away from the throttle linkage until the end of the cable contacts the adjuster fitting. Release the metal tab.
Fully open the throttle valve. The cable will move through the adjuster fitting and automatically stop at the correct position when the throttle valve is opened fully."
Doing it that way seemed to jam. So I tried to find some position by trial and error that would work. Now seems to be working much better but I still think there must be a simpler way.
Has anyone a better way to set this?
the way the book said is a good starting point in my opinion. then adjust to your liking.
my car seems to be jumpin when u gun it till it gets a few revs up in first then it takes forever for 2nd to engage like as tho its slipin, had my car running great now this is happening and my car now feels useless in drags, what do u think this is or do i just hav to adjust the kickdown couse ure storie dont seem so differant. help i had a feeling it might be a bad batch of leads or plugs...
it was just one stuffed plug, all good now
long live tha buick motor
