As topic states, just after some opinion's on heavy duty clutch kit's for the T5.

Apparently PBR did alot of R&D when the VN V6 manuals were released, trying to design a clutch that soaked up the noisey V6 driveline. I wouldnt mind quietening things down a little while I'm at it.

Not sure about ur location, but I know that Autobarn stores on the Sushine Coast are both linked with companies who have good street/mild performance driveline gear. If not, try "TBS", or Holden themselves, might have info on other models that had a stronger clutch!
    Good Luck !!!

I'm on the Sunshine Coast Grant. I used to deal with an older bloke at Autobarn Maroochydore who knew alot about high performance bit's and pieces. Always offered great advice without leading me in the wrong direction. Not sure if he's still about though. I should really ring PBR in the morning and find out whether the rumours are true.

Where abouts are you located bud?

OSLO60, I'm out towaed the "Pineapple". Anyway, I pretty much lived at the Autobarn Nambour store whilst painting the VC I have burried in the shed. If I ever needed advise, prices, hard-to-find, hi-po, they get it, or find someone who can help. Absolute devotion to there customers.
Anyway, my thought was a clutch from a walky! Not sure how fittment would go, but an idea!
    Good Luck, Happy Cruising !!!

Let me know if you ever have transmission problems. I know a guy in Palmwoods who is a gearbox guru and very reasonable. I'll be heading out that way when I finally get this clutch so he can give the T5 a once over. I used to do alot of 5.0L R&D of my own out on those back roads.

R&D, is that the secret code these days!?(hehehe) I'm originaly from the northern outskirts of Brizvegas, and we use to do alot of "R&D" with Brett Stevens' crew.
It's amazing the amount of R&D you can leave on the road when youve got 512 c.i. under ya right foot !!

    OSLO60, I've found it!!!
I've been told that a centreforce clutch to suit walky should be a bolt-on job.
Capable of handling up around 450 - 500 hp, it should last you quite a few years!!!
Good Luck mate, and Happy Cruzz"n !!!

if that doesnt work out for you jake,an Extreme clutch kit would also sort you out.i am presuming you have a 5litre.these things have a wild looking pressure plate.a mate brought one recently for his 308 turboed LJ torana and it works nicely

oh.i read the bit about the walky clutch and thought 5 litre.i doubt if that would even fit on a v6 flywheel, let alone bolt up,but i could be wrong.they make the Extreme kits for most models

Jake be carefull not to get a clutch with to much bite in it, the V6 tend to brake flywheel bolts with a crabby clutch. Series one are not as bad but will still brake them. Series two are terrible. The first weekend we raced the VN/VP V6 at Adelaide in 2000 at the series kick off there would have been 10 flywheels ripped off the back of the things over the week end. One guy from QLD did three.

I have a t5 in my v8 and the first standard clutch was pathetic, rpm heavy duty wasnt much better, but i live in wa and precision clutch in welshpool make there own custom clutch it is awesome and the pedal is light as well. costs around $600 for the clutch and backing plate

Sorry Tony I forgot that you circuit race the old T5 V6 VN. Could you PM with the clutch you've had the most success with, and then if your feeling generous sell me a secondhand item Gawd I'm tight huh.

haha Grant you crazy mofo I haven't 'let some rip at Alex' for years I should really take the old ladies car for a lap down that way tonight just to have look around. Once I get this heap of VN on the road and respectable we'll go for a cruise bro. Like a mini Sunny Coast cruise or something. Anyone else from the coast wanna raise your hand?

    Cheers Guys

    Jake
