Howdy, I recently bought a tacho for my VN 5p wagon. I bought it off ebay only cause it was pretty cheap - $39.95, had a shiftlight & wasnt a wanker 5in tacho which goes up to 12,000rpm.
Anyway, I can install it myself its just that it has 2 black (earth) wires. One is long & thin, the other is short & thick. It also has 2 red wires (power) one long & thin & the other short, fat & kinda a pink looking shade of red?? It also has the green wire for the signal.
Any ideas?? as i dont wanna blow up my tacho.
Here are some pics. Excuse the mess on my table & the excessive watches

G'day
Not 100 % sure, but i think you will find the 2 small wires are for illumination, you can check this by removing the tacho from the case and see if there is a globe holder inside, the pinkish colour would IGN and the black is EARTH and as you suspect the pulse will be GREEN.
Bit of suck it and see i'm afraid, other than that google the brand name and see what comes up.

i had a tach once with similar colours, turns out the small wires are for the lights and the rest for the tach
So ive got to earth both the black wires & with maybe the pink wire, splice into the instrument cluster lighting??

Bahahaha ^^ lol
I'd say the thin wires are illumination - splice them into a dash light which somes on with your headlights (like your cig lighter backing light), and then large black = ground, large red = ign voltage, green = signal.
