    Default HSV Plus6 help

    About to buy one, pretty sure its the 1991 model which im told is classed as a VN but has a VP engine in it, completely stock engine with just a sports pipe and tinted windows.

    I wish to put the following into the car and need advice if it can be done or not, and i cant really find many threads on the matter;
    VS commodore dash with equipment;
    VS statesman steering wheel;
    Nice leather seats from either a VR or VS if anyone can recommend some;
    Engine parts that can go straight in;
    Upgrades to the interior or exterior door handles or locking mechanisms;

    And if the above can be done, the degree of difficulty.

    VS commodore dash with equipment: Possible, but 10/10 for difficulty.

    VS statesman steering wheel: Fairly sure it can be done easily

    Nice leather seats from either a VR or VS if anyone can recommend some: Damn easy.

    Engine parts that can go straight in: like what? O_o

    Upgrades to the interior or exterior door handles or locking mechanisms: Not much room for upgrades... if you mean colour-coded handles, then you can do that yourself. Chrome ones are pricey.

    All that said and done, why would you want to mutilate a classic HSV?

    Not mangling a car, but nice seats and a steering wheel are a must and ive been told you can straight swap a VS clubby dash into a VN/VP, so thought i would ask. Also been told the door handles on VNs and VPs can have issues so i thought i would ask.

    Finding the parts is the easy bit, i already have the seats and steering wheel lined up, and the dash i can get but if its not going to be worth it then im not going to bother, lol.

    Do the seats just swap straight in, or are they on different brackets?

    Nah, seats are a straight swap. Take the old ones out, brackets and all, and the VS seats will bolt straight into the same four holes on the ground. Chances are they may misalign by a few mm, so you'll just have to force the rails a little to get them to line up.

    I have VS Calais seats in my VP Exec, so that should give you an idea

    But yeah... dash conversions... some people find it fairly straightforward, and others run into more problems than it's worth. At the end of the day you're doing a lot of rewiring and essentially disassembling everything on your side of the firewall, so it's a big job. While you're in there you may aswell swap out your heater core for a new one.

    Heatercore needs to be swapped old one is busted, hence how i got to thinking about the dash conversion. My friend seems certain that a VR/VS dash will go straight in, i wasnt entirely convinced. And as far as i knew theres no difference between the VP and VN dash.

    i dont understand why you would go a vs dash as they are ugly and theres really no differance at all between the standard vs dash and the vs clubby dash except maybe one or two buttons and i also have been told it is a headache of a job to do.

    i really wouldn't bother changing it not to mention you would lose value on a HSV doing something like that

    allot of stuffing around for the dash... the bit that is hardest so ive heard is getting the demisters to work.... suposedly the firewall on a vr/s is slightly different..

    Yeah, vents etc aren't a perfect match. And personally, I detest the way VR/S door vents are mounted. Looks like something a primary school kid whacked up for a late art project.

    If your just wanting the VS Clubby dash for the 250k speedo, that can be transferred into your VN/P Cluster (As long as its level 3, assuming the +6 has level 3 dash).

    If it's a VN/P, you'll have to get a VN/P lv3 cluster to go in it. You can't slap VR/S clusters into a VN/P... it'll go spaz

    He means the VS HSV Speedo.

    They come around every now and then. I payed $600 for the complete VS dash, swapped the VS speedo with my VP speedo, and then swapped the whole VS Dash for a strut brace.

    If the +6 doesn't have a level 3 dash, you'll have to get one from a VN or VP, and then put the VS speedo into that cluster. As morton sad, bad things if you put a VR/S dash cluster into a VN/P

    Well in a minor update i have some questions about some parts that were offered to me.

    1. Holden Genuine Cold Air Induction for the VS 6 and im told it will go straight in but ill need to use a heat gun to get the bonnet to close. Is that correct? If you need an example of what it is exactly heres a link to the same product on eBay;
    CAI eBay Link

    2. VS S Pac seats go straight in, thats not a question as i knew they would just thought id tell everyone the seats ive pretty much settled on. That said im still hunting for some nice leather front seats, dont really care about the back as ill never be sitting in it, lol.

    3. Holden Commodore VY VZ HBD Leathered Steering Wheel. Car was a write off and a mate knew i was looking for a new steering wheel. The issue is will it go in straight or will i need a boss kit. Once again here is a link below to an eBay reference;
