VN Highbeam problem = VERY ANNOYING

Ok i just put in some headlights that i got from the wreakers. Everything seemed fine until my highs go out, then my lows. I had to drive home on a dirt road with only my parkers and hazard lights to illuminate the road!

Well anyhoo, me and my dad looked at the fuses for ages until we find it was the main lo and hi beam fuse and the smaller 25 amp fuse which had completely melted into the box!

New box and fuse later they work, until now. Only the hi's have gone out this time but its the same story, 25 amp fuse blown out again.

I have no idea anymore. This has only started happening since the new lights. I dont want to keep putting in fuses then at night just wait for it to blow out again unexpectadly.

Any clues?

maybe its got somthing to do with the new lights... Globes = bad wattage!

Look at the wires around the connectors - the globes are not problem. When you put the new head lights in you probably disturbed a wire somehow and it shorts out the lights. Turn the lights on and start moving the looms at the back of the lights around abit. See what goes pop.

What wattage are the bulbs? I think the standard is 60/55W. People have posted that higher wattage bulbs tend to melt things.

if it only happened since you put the new lights in, then I would suggest it is a connection problem. But then, why did you change the lights? Trace the wiring, you would probably have an earth problem.

i HAD to change them. the lows were like parkers and the hi's were like bad lowbeams = almost uselss light.

Yea maybe its in the connection. I will have to take a look.

I would be looking at what wattage globes are in those lights,if they are 130/90 chuck them and fit PHILIPS 50 % brighter 60/55.
