Hey guys, was driving home last night and gee what a suprise, my sh*tbox started overheating again!!
Now it has a brand new radiator, new temp sensor and it isn't losing any coolant whatsoever.......
It wouldn't drop below 3 quarters on the temp gauge, and red lined a few times. Red lined on idle and while accelerating, but didn't drop below three quarters on the gauge.
A mate seems to think there may be an airlock in the cooling system???
Is this a possibility and if so, to bleed the system is it just a matter of lossening the bleeding nipple and taking off the radiator cap and starting her up and running her on idle a few times???

I didn't fill her up mate so i wouldn't have a clue.
No the level has not dropped at all.

Maybe ya gauge is ****ed...simple solution is sometimes the best one :P
Thermostat is prob stuffed not cooling it proper check fan fuses wireing to fan, maybe make an over-ride switch to fan so you can turn it off and on.
Check that the thermo fans coming on as it should do so when guage hits 1/2 way possible blown fuse as other people have mentioned, also check ya oil level.
If you dont have time to get fixed right away just leave your aircon on as this will turn your thermo fan on.
Also Maybe your waterpumps stuffed & fins arent circulating water properly..
Vn executive 1990 200,000kms as of 13/6/08 , oil changes every 5000kms since it rolled out the factory , strut brace for hard cornering, kn pod filter, Ngk iridiums sports exhaust..what else can I say I love my holden![]()

But if the gauge was screwed, would it stay on red line?? Mine was going up and down as i accelerated etc. It would cool down a bee's dick if i didnt go above 60, but as soon as i did it would rise, and sitting at the lights it would hit redline.......
Maybe i'll chuck my old cluster in and see if it does it. Which fuse is for the fans etc under the steering wheel??
When i pulled over in the freezing cold rain, it wasn't overly warm under the bonnet at all, i had been driving for maybe about 20 minutes, just as warm as it usually is, nothing was bubbling, coolant resevoir was still full, nothing leaking from underneath......

Any ideas??

Good luck.
have you checked your heater tap? If its coming out at the back of the motor i feel sorry for you. its a PIA to change welsh plugs on a motor in the car.
There is a core plug on the back of the block too, it will run down the back of the engine and drip off the bell housing.
That sounds exactly like what it is doing ^^^^
And yes one of my mates said it very well could be a welsh plug. That's really gay. Really really gay,

I thought it was a rebuilt motor that is in your car cobez. Someone probably can't knock a plug in straight
WTB: mulberry VN interior parts
It had the rings and bearings done at about 70,000 km's ago.

I pretty much refuse to put anymore money into it.
Plus i'm after a new car anyway.

But would a leaking welsh plug explain the no coolant under the radiator cap??
