VN fix up (finally)

ok got to the stage my VN is almost on the road... i have to replace the tailpipe, or chop part of it off and weld on a crome tip ive just noticed that the exhaust is only 2 and 1/4 inch... should i ditch that whole system and replace it with 2 and 1/2 inch ???
