my vn fuel pump is really noisy and sometimes stays on for a good 30 seconds after the car has stopped. I am under the impression it is going to fail soon.
I have a VP series II (that was involved in an accident) and I was wondering if it were possible to swap the 1 fuel pump in the VN Wagon to the dual fuel pumps from the VP sedan. Or are the in tank pumps the same and just swap them. I know it is a long shot for the pumps to be the same from a VN wagon to a VP II sedan but it will save me some money and I don't mind doing the swap.
I guess I would like confirmation that they are compatible before I start ripping them both apart.
I always ask the hard questions.
Anyone?
The staying on after shutdown isnt too weird, mine does it every now and then not for 30secs but still.... there genrally pretty noise anyway.... If there both V6's then itll be fine.
Same tanks and pumps as far as i know.... the only differnce between the VN/Vp's is the V6 vs. V8... (8's have a pre-pump)
aZk.
thanks for the reply aZk. My pump has a very destinct grinding noise that you can easily hear over the engine even while driving. Sometimes when I get out of the car and can get all of my things and walk inside my house and it only just stops.
It will probably die soon, so I will do the swap because they are both V6 and the VP series II one is nice and quiet, can only just hear it. just how it should be
Cheers
James
by the way, I think wagons have 67L tanks and sedans have around 60L tanks.
Just what I thought anyway
wagon tanks are completely different, as are the senders. but the pump itself is the same from memory
