Hi guys I have just bought my first VN (pick it up next weekend) and I suppose I need to find out first of all if what I have bought is genuine or if it is rare at all??
it is a 1990 VN V8 Berlina Wagon, with a 5 speed Manual, it has air and steer and seems to be a nice clean original unit?
Can anyone help me out with identifying codes for the VIN to how whether it should be a factory V8 Manual or an after market mod???
second question, how rare are the Berlina V8 5 Speed wagons?? I have only ever had (much) earlier Holden's before this one (FJ, EK, EH stuff)
Thanks in Advance
Matt
OH and a quick final question, what kind of fuel consumption should I expect from this car????

factory manual berlina wagon would be pretty rare.

post up the codes on the plate and we will tell you
There is a sticky for option codes (one thread above this one), that should tell you what you want.
It should make about 11/12 litres per 100 ks down the highway, possibly better than that

why would you put your vin on the net?
lol funny boy
Bugga!
I just picked up the car and found out by decoding the tags, it was a factory auto, so someone at some stage has done a full conversion on it,
but the up side is, it has all the electric stuff, cruise, mirrors, windows, factory air etc etc etc so it must have been a well loved car at some stage, and at least it is a factory eight! lol
The up side is I don't feel bad about parting it out now! it isn't rare after all!
Matt
Incidently I averaged around 12.24 litres per 100 Klm on the trip home so I will have to work out why it is a little thirsty

lol dont part it out man.... doesnt matter if its not factory manual. my mum used to have a 1990 model berlina wagon 5 litre 5 speed, was blue with aunger 15inch wheels on it.... your car has alot of potential for a nice cruiser![]()
Thanks for the encouragement Peanuts Inc,
I originally bought it as a donor car, till I was told how rare it was as a V8 Manual, I am not into late model cars (as good as they are) and always intended fitting the V8 Driveline to the EK Ute, which also has a great deal of potential as a cruiser LOL
What I will do though I think is be very careful to remove everything carefully and offer the shell with tags and all the bolt on stuff for someone else to make a cruiser out of that can give the VN the attention it deserves, and cruise in it, there are a heap of guys here that can make it a great car and I would love to see someone do it justice.
