Hi I was just driving along and our v6 vp (170k on the clock ) just stalled
on attempting to restart it fires then stalls.
It will not run
Im going to go and tow it home now
Any ideas what it may be?
Will attempt to read computer fault code and get back soon
cheers
Rileyp
Sounds like a fueling issue... but it's hard to know. You may have run out of petrol?Or your fuel pump or a related fuse could be fouled...

Yes you are correct
Fault code came up 12
meaning no problem
We attempted bridging out the fuel pump relay to hear it run and we didnt hear it run!
We have bought another fuel pump and towed the car to my father inlaws house (closer than mine)
Is there a fuel pump replacement guide on here somewhere?
And is the wagon pump the same as the sedan?
Mine is a wagon
cheers

New fuel pump installed and car is fine
They are a bugger to get in and out and hook that hose on!
Anyway problem solved
Thanks Morton for your help![]()
No worries mateAnd yea... fuel pumps? Not fun to change. Took me two whole hours to get mine back in... >.<
And then I had to change it again the next day!!! I was furious!
Glad it was simple to sort out. Some times it's not that simple, and people spend HUNDREDS trying to trace the problem. You should post some pics of your car in the "my ride" section some time
Cheers.![]()

I took my father inlaw with me who is a auto elec.Im a sparky by trade and so it was quite funny.Prior to leaving my place he said grab a short bit of wire.Im thinking for fault codes....As Id just finished printing off the fault list and retrieval method.
On the drive over there Im thinking what could be wrong with it.Id already tried swapping relays before he came and picked me up.I say to him your gonna play bypass surgery on my fuel pump relay arent ya cowboy?
He say yeah well if the computer wont tell it to run we will...
Great minds think alike I suppose.
Anyway we get there and rip off the rh kick panel and do the fault code thing...
12 nothing wrong.
So then we bypass the fuel pump relay and listen for the pump...
nothing
We tow to his place and go buy a pump repco 5 min down the road $86
get back drain fuel and then jack up on rhs so fuel stops dripping completely!
damm thing wont come out...
comes out as I loose grip of the tube you need to detach.I panic silently thinking Im gonna have hell getting that back as the rest of the pipework and pump come out.
Reach back in and can grab tube oh thank god for that!
Pump change over is straight forward on bench in shed.
Putting back in was a fiddle but all up from start draining to restarting on first turn of key it was 1 hour and 30 minutes.
problem fixered!
Sounds like you had more fun than I didlol, I didn't struggle to get the pump out at all... I just failed to take note of how it was meant to go back in. Took me two damn hours to get it to line up in the baffles. I think I exceeded my RDI of petrol.
lol in my mouth, my nose, my eyes... i'll never sniff the stuff again ^^
