No such thing as a "kit", but you can use various pants and vinyl dies to recolour the interior.

Just be warned that nine times out of ten, it will look awful, and you'll regret it six months down the track

Your best bet is to accept that the design is twenty years old, and it isn't ever going to get any better ^^

vr/vs dash conversion, new seats, new carpet and new hood liner should have it looking a bit better, just choose colours carefully.

VR dash conversion is arguably worse (I'm not a big fan)

Probably the most favourable way to upgrade your interior is pick a nice interior you like from a similar model, say VQ Statesmen and buy all the door cards and put them in, then but some VX HSV seats etc.

Yeah, just make sure the door trims you buy are exactly the same shade of blue/grey/brown as your dashboard There were so many different colours that looked similar, and it's easy to screw up ^^

Some nice seats will spice things up a bit - again, if you get the right colour.

agreed. I much prefer the VN/P dash having the switch blocks instead of some unco oval shaped thing but hey, each to their own

the vr/vs dash is heaps better, since putting one in the wagon i hate driving with a vn/vp dash infront of me, so ugly. but each to there own.

You could put a VS Statesman or Caprice dash in there, its not to everyone's taste but I think it would look good.

VR dash is no way near worse... your all stoners!

The key to interior redesiging with my many attempts i have found to be is:

Dont reinvent the wheel. The reason you car is the way it is cos its like 20 years old... you need to make it newer but not flashy.

    Rule 1: Matts over gloss

Cars never came out with gloss interior stuff, why? cos it looks crap usually and its way to hard to get right. So, if oyur going for a colour change, lets use a matt colour insted of a gloss.

    Rule 2: Retrimming

Unless your a trimmer, dont attempt to retrim your door cards, why? cos there pressed vynal and its near imposible to get right. A vynal dye will do just fine and it is cheaper too.

    Rule 3: The Little Things

Interiors are made up of heaps of things, sometimes, changing all the small things like shifter lights, foot pedals and door handles makes a massive differance. Grab some Calais sun visors, some chrome stato door handles... upgrade little things.

Rule 4: Pick a Colour Scheme

Pic a max of three colours. 1 base, 1 highlight, 1 Filler. Layer them, base, marke your highlights then fill around. Dont go nuts with the highlight. it is JUST A HIGHLIGHT! Make your filler and base very neutral colours (blacks and greys)

Rule 5: If it retro fits.... do it

Bring stuff from newer models into your interior... Upgrade oyur seats with newer ones like VT's or Statos etc. New dashes, new parts... bring the interior up to the current time period by adding newer parts.

So in general, go with what a car company would do.... basic colours and blend them well. Dont get cheap, dont put crappy things in. If your going to pant parts, do them well and make them beld in not stand out.

    Good Luck/.

hes right though, i spent ages doing my interior white and one day i was like nah its too ricy so i scrapped the lot, right now doing a two tone bottom half, and a nuetral upper half the lower half is split into matt black top over matt charcoal, and highlight is the body colour, the good thing about vn/vp makeovers is, if you ***k up theres plenty of spares out there most things snap with vn's/vp's when you remove them too.. but leave the dash, vr/s dashes are ugly and take up space, id like to see a vn dash in a vs

read up on things, DONT RUSH and practise your spray can skills and you can do anything, it best to come up with the consept FIRST rather than making it up as you go..

To be complety honest with you guys, i prefer VR dash or VS cos the passanger air bag lift's up due to sun-damage and it looks like shit when that happens...as why i like VR dash

OK So i literally just joined up 5 mins ago, and tomorrow am buying my 1st Holden.. So just say i am an ameteur at this. Im getting a 93 VP, and to be honest, i loathe the interior! If i wanted to replace things like door trims, seats, dash, etc.. what Holden models would fit in it ??

you can make pretty much any front seat fit and model with a grinder and welder most back seats are only suited to that model and shape but can be done if you got the know how and time. alot of dash's can be converted also i have seen vt vx dashs in vk-vs not a big fan of dash conversions my self but each to there own. custom interiors are the way to go. Alot can be DIY jobs also maybe not trimming seats door cards and hoodlining (unless you are a trimmer) but painting dash's can be done to high quility at home with the right tools. DON'T use pressure packs. Use a spray gun with a high fill 2K primer and 2K top coat. Also 2k clear if your going for that glossy look. Stick with pluse coulors like Tan, Grey , Black, Cream. They are not too in your face and ricey. Use high lighted stitching. Use leather, not vinyl. Thats just my my opinion anyways. Each to there own but.
