you mean the inlet valley gasket?

    ive done a few before,

its simple unbolt inlet manifold, fuel lines etc (drain coolant first otherwise you'll get coolant in your oil + cyclinders and make u think u made headgasket gooooo when u havnt)

undo the small black bolts round the outside (be sure to use a imperial socket not metric or u'll round them, its easy to think its a 10mm but its not)

and pull off alternator + engine belt to get to some bolts and throttle plate has to come off too, then remove it and swap the gaskets

DONT USE THE ACL GASKET KITS, they're crap the blue gaskets split way too easy, you have to do inlet gaskets aswell as they only sell them as a set, but its worth it.. they're all shagged and leaking water into the engine sucking your powa

find the black flat inlet valley gasket seals they're tops never break (Y)

from memory the kits are $40-50 and it takes 1 hour to change them, its pretty damn easy if u ask me after doing it heaps

yeah they're crap (usually acl gaskets are aight) the actual gasket between the head and the inlet manifold is good but the valley seals that seal the block and inlet manifold (little rubber bits) split down the middle and fall out EASY, best to get the ones that look like stockers (nice n thick middle bits)

Ahh crap, i already bought it....$80 for the kit for a vx ecotec.. The gaskets look pretty thick. Are you saying the blue bits split on the main gasket, or you taking about the red end seal pices. For my car, it came with 4 end pieces, but the manuals show 2. Maybe they have em in 2 pieces. How do they fall out once you have used the blue loctite on them ? Dont they like fit into a groove ?

I need to change some lifters soon so the inlet manifold needs to come out, can you write up a bit of "how to" and maybe take a few pictures?

Yeah, i will do so, either on here, or on the sister forum.......there already is one for the buick engine on another forum, let me go find it............but yeah, im thinking if i should do the lifters or not...........they are slightly noisy but then again its normal for these motors and ive read on other forums where after a few months the new ones just get noisy again.....plus if you put the wrong ones in, too hard etc they run the risk of damaging the cam.........did you try some lifter cleaner /???
