You seriously need to search, your gonna get your ear chewed off about asking this question.
My friend bought the CAI from Holden for 85, then just got a K & N Filter. It goes pretty good and its what ill be doing to my HSV +6.
Just get a Holden Cold Air Intake, it will cost you all of $55

Or if you are feeling creative, design and make your own.
I made one up with piping, it runs through the airbox (airbox has no filter at all just totally hollow) through the bottom of the airbox, and down to the front bar and has a pod filter attached to the end of the piping, it catches the full force of the cold air from my VP senator front bar when driving forwards, which has factory moulded ducts on each side of the front bar. Works a damn treat.
Doesn't cop any engine bay heat because the system is hooked into my front bar. No engine bay heat = cooler air into the engine.

I wont be 'creating' one myself i dont know **** like that to do with cars id be afraid to wreck it, thats why i asked what u guys had in your car, id trust vn/vp owners to someone else
edit:
crap pic all i could find quickly but my mate has one like this and i saw roughly the same at supercheap
Looks like crap $200 is not worth it. its not boxed in or anything and still suck up hot air and you have to aim for cold air your best bet would be VS S/C CAI from holden there better than the SS inductions that are around $250 and get a K&N panel filter cops wont pic on it.
Although you will pay a little bit for the panel filter, but they are washable and re useable, so they pay for themselves really.
I recommend the K&N recharge cleaner kit, once again will cost a bit but pays for itself.

K&N are just tried and true high flow filters. Alot of others claim to flow alot better, but they don't.
I just like sticking to quality stuff to be on the safe side. Plus the K&N filters are re usable and washable and wont stuff up after you wash them down.
I'm not as confident on the cheaper brand ones, but that's just me.

TBH, I don't think there's too much of a reasonable difference between your cheap Ryco air filter, and a $100+ K&N number. Not on a stock flowing V6 anyway. I have run numerous G-Techs with the Ryco filter in, and numerous G-Techs with no filter at all... and I am yet to discern any noticable difference in times. So I can't see how having something that flows a little better than the stock filter is going to help you out
But you know, that's only in my car. ^^
edit: my cold air intake, however, was worth every one of the $20 I spent to make it. Has improved times dramatically, especially in hot weather. There's nothing worse than picking up 150 degree air from the engine bay in summer.

I waited until the K&N panels were on sale for $60 and got one. I cut my old SC CAI in the VN, I think a better option is to do a Greenfoam by heating the top plastic lip with hairdryer and jaming some wood in the opening to open it up greater.
Yeah, the SC CAIs could use a bit of a larger opening.

the ones for 55$ are just the actual air filters that go into an airbox? im confused and wished i didnt make this thread now ><
anyways..my mates which cos about 200 his system pumps out air from the air filter and u can hear it running well when i look on the vn webpage for vn v6's they only have disposable air filters and oil.
So basically how much wouldit be to remove the entire air box and the piping and be replaced with that small pic i posted above?
not really thats why i made this post obviously, i thought i would ask ppl who are on this forum like 24/7 so they would know, but i wont bother anymore cos u ask a question u dont know the answer for and u get flamed by certain people who belittle you if u dont know something, lol whatever man i think i found the fool, thans for everyone who actually tried to help
