will a vs v6 master cylender be the same as a vn v8 master cylender?
VS Wont fit a VN. Period V6 vs. V8 dont mean squat. Not compatable. you could take the booters and MC and do a swap but i think alot of the VS's had ABS so your ****ed then anyway.
Youll proably find the V8's mostly had 1" MC anyway, 6's with the 16/15.
point is, VS MC wont fit without the booster asembly aswell (or not al all if ABS)
aZk.
actaully not alot of VS's had ABS man, only higher models,
alrite thanks ill have a look at it
No they are completely different and will not fit and the vs booster is plastic unlike the metal vn one.
Never be afraid to try new things; remember amateurs build the ark while professionals build the Titanic.
just get a VN/VP V8 1" master cylinder, you don't really wanna take a step backwards by fitting a smaller master cylinder

but will the brakes still work the same?
To use a VS Master Cylinder you will need to fit the VS Booster, the VS fire wall mounting bracket and then replace the brake pipes. The brake pipes on your VN wont fit up to the VS MC. There was a change during late VP to the same brake pipe flaring as found on VS-VZ.
There are adapters you can buy to allow them to fit but don't look so good and means you would be better off having new pipes made.
If you have a ute, they only came fitted with 15/16ths Master cylinders on all models V6 and V8. Also if it has ABS it will also have a 15/16ths MC whether it was a V8 or V6.
If your VN has no ABS you will need a Master Cylinder from VK/VL (maybe earlier as well) through to early VP and a 1" bore.
