    Default Braking Problem

Hey all i just recently had a prob with me brakes which i was hoping som1 can help i kinda know wat it is but i wanna make sure.

recently my brakes were really grindy so i had a look and the brakes were metal to metal so it ****ed the disc up. i Recently chenged it and when i changed it the piston ended up suizing up. Si i went and bought disc and caliper from the wreckers. Since then changiung them som reason now the brakes arnt working the pedal goes straight to the floor.

Which i tried to bleed the brakes and still nothing the brake liught also is showing on the dash board. So im thinking its the master cylinder or the brake booster. Can some please tell me what it is

    THANK YOU!!!

To reset the brake warning light, you need to undo the switch on the side of the master cylinder, you will hear the piston click back, then do it up again. You probably have not bled them properly, thats why the brake pedal goes to the floor. The piston probably did not seize in the caliper, it most likely went in crooked and jammed.

Copied from another thread as I CBF typing it all out.

    1. Place a suitable size ring spanner on the bleed valve. Attach a suitible clear rubber hose to the nipple.

    2. Have an assistant apply pressure to the brake pedal. As he/she does this, open the bleed valve by turning the spanner. Be sure the assistant holds the pedal down. Once it is half way down, have them hold it till you have closed the valve. It is important that you don't go to the floor as this may damage the cups in the M/cyl and you will trip the brake switch again.

    3. Repeat until there are no bubbles in the line.

    * Be sure there is sufficent fluid in the brake resevoir at all times.

Yes. The VS, using the 7/8" master cylinder doesn't have the capacity to move the required volume of fluid for the VT calipers. The VT 1" master cylinder is what is nedded.

Maybe you have somehow got some air right at the master cylinder that usually takes some bleeding to get out if you bleed it at the caliper nipples....but you can do the same thing at the flare nut fittings at the actual master cylinder using the same technique but undoing and retightening the flare nut at the mastercylinder instead of bleednipple at the caliper....its bit messy but you hose it off straight away and its all good.

    No, it doesn't.

The flare nut is the nut that attaches the brake line to the master cylinder.
