    Default Yellow Sticker for this?

I keep getting different answers, is it legal to cut a hole in the bottom of your airbox and drop an air pod so it sits under your left wheel arch?

Or if you guys could post what your cai is like that would be cool, cos I wanna know if anyone has done that. ta

Heaps of people have done their Cold Air Intake like that but as far as I know they are not legal.

Its not really worth it. You are better to get a Holden Cold Air Intake and a High Flow Panel filter.

I tried a pod filter for a while. Not really worth it.

Here's some pics of my CAI

Morton, the car on the right with the big pipe sticking out can you please provide some more info? it looks like it was done by taking off the front bumper etc and a just a piece of piping no pod hanging down?
also in the pic i posted with the pod in the cut airbox, I heard as long as its not 'just hanging' a pod is ok and the box provides heatshielding as to why they arent legal in the first place.

Okay, I've talked to VicRoads about this before:
To pass RWC - Pod has to be secured and mounted firmly. That's all VicRoads cares for.
To pass EPA - Pod has to be fully enclosed. Noise emissions or something.

The car on the right is mine. I didn't need to take the front bumper off to install it - I just happened to have the bumper off in that pic. It's the same CAI as the one in the other two pictures you see.

I cut a hole in the airbox, and silicone sealed the pipe into it. 100% airtight, so the air is all drawn in through the front bumper Nice and cold.

The picture posted above, with the pod in the air box, is really worthless. There is no heat shielding - at the end of the day, air in the engine bay gets VERY hot.

So does your intake pipe just hang down from the airbox?

My air box has a hole cut out and the 'snorkel' attached but it has no 'lip' at the front bonnet and no pieces connecting it so i seem to have an uncomplete setup because my gfs vs has all that i mentioned and its all nice and tidy.
Morton I like your setup tough.

Cheers man I constructed it myself. Only took an hour or so. The pipe is slotted into the side of the airbox, and then curves down through the engine bay.

Nah, no chance of that. It's been on there for a year now. There isn't enough of a vacuum to suck stuff up You get the occasional leaf or bug, but nothing dangerous. The pipe is ribbed, so it catches all the stones, water etc down the bottom.

i tried doing what morton did in my vn but i just didnt have enough room to fit the pipe anywhere, however if you have a vq or vq bumber, take out the foglight bezel thing and stick the pipe there, probably get a little more air then mortons cos theres no restriction and a heap more POWA!

I dont have room either because of this hard rubber/plastic guard, instead of removing it im gonna cut a small hole in it and put the pipe through

Mortin your setup looks nice, cheap and effective (just a shame theres nowhere to tie the pipe end so that the ties arent visible). i thort id give it a shot altho once that pipe goes down into the engine bay did u curve it back to the passenger side of the car then come back to the drivers side to duck into the vented part of the bumper.
Also iv searched a bit n have got different ideas but how does a CAI or pod run with LPG installed. my gas setups fine for chopping the airbox up as the air tube is fitted on the back of the airbox unlike most other setups, but will the cold air have any negative affects that anyone knows about?
    Cheers

You may need to get your gas re tuned because of the cooler air, but besides that there shouldn't be any problems.

I did love my old Pod filter, But as time went on and i went to a S/C V6 CAI i realised they are not that good and it's hard to beat the box with some type of CAI system.
