    Default VP coolant sensor?

Anyone know where this is located, (series II)?
not the same as the series I.
I have the TB off atm and just replaced the IAC and am replacing the coolant sensor if it even has one,
(repco sold me one so I guess it does).

    thanks

    Yeah, you've got two.

Coolant temp sender for the ECU
Water temp sensor for the dash

single wire one is for the dash gauge, dual-wire one is for the ECU. Good idea to replace both, and they're both in the same spot behind the Alternator Shouldn't set you back more than $25 for the two.

    thanks guys
I replaced it and the IAC as well, it actually made the whole car a lot smoother, aparently the coolant temp sensor acts on fuel mixture, so it helped.

but it didnt really stopp the problem I have with excessive revs on startup so I am looking into it further, could be the TPS.

this stuff really gets me because it is somthing simple I know its just a matter of finding it.

I will replace the other one tommorrow as I only replaced the Coolant temp Sensor.

Guess i could stop being so bloody lazy and get out the trusty ol manual and multimeter.

    thanks for the help

    cheers

excessive revs on start is in the ecu because when your engine is cold the ecu is telling it to idle higher and once up to operating temp it will drop back to your normal idle.

    but how high is going

It only does it when hot, not sure how high but it sounds wrong (probably up around2000 rpm).
Im checking for vacum leaks today.

Just thought I would post another question, since I can't seem to find any vacum leaks.

It only does it when hot, like when its been drive for about 10 minutes then stoped then I restart it, like at the shops.

The idle rides up and sits there , then goes down and rides up again when I take it out of park and put it into revers or drive.

any ideas or tips as to what to look for,at the moment I cant find a leak.

why would heat be affecting it and gear changes from park to drive..?

so far i have replaced coolant temp sensor(new).
TPS (just swaped over from another TB).
    AIC sensor (new)
adjusted the kick down cable (its fine)
    coils all good resistance

    cheers

could be CAS, check the ECU for any codes see what it gives ya, its worth a shot sounds like a sensor though so you replaced the IAC even though you replaced the TPS big possibility that it could be it. good luck

The coolant temp. sensor is located under the alternator. This means you must remove the alternator to get it out. You will also need to drain the radiator, and disconnect the battery. You may also need a special socket to extract the sensor from the motor.
