    A. To be legal, the brake and indicator lights have to be visible from a certain distance, I think its 30 meters in daylight in South Australia and you cant tint the indicator, but it may be different depending on where you live.

    B. To tint them you use a product called night shades, it comes in a spray can and you apply coats until you are happy with the darkness. Night Shades is avalible at automotive stores like Autobarn or Supercheap Auto.

If you don't want the icky finish on the outside of the lights and your feeling keen, you can pry open the lense away from the backing on each tail light and spray them from the inside.

You can tint the indicator, you can NOT tint the reflector. Im pretty sure its further than 30m also.

And its not just South Australia, that information comes from the ADR's so it is nationwide.

I ment to write reflector, I guess thats what I get for not reading my post after I had typed it

When I rang Transport SA I was told that it was 30m in daylight, but your probably right and I was quoted the wrong information.

Is there any such thing as a blue spray on tint? i.e. a blue version of night shades?

Alright, so I gave Transport SA another call today, and the guy on the phone was extremely helpful and gave me this link: ROAD TRAFFIC (VEHICLE STANDARDS) RULES 1999 - REG 88 Yes it is 200 meters and he said that the guy that I spoke to last time must have been an idiot.

    just mask up the reflectors.

I heard about someone using clear to water down black paint & spraying with that to avoid the 'icky' finish.

NUFNSUS got thru regency 4 times with heavily tinted taillights We must have a good secret

You can also just add a bit of black paint to some clear coat and spray it on, will give a better finish, more glossy, also heard of ppl adding a clear coat after putting night shades on as it tends to give a matt finish
