i guess you have all seen the LED replacement lamps around... i have for a while and so decided to buy a pair of tail/stop light replacment globes off eBay.

There are a few variants around... the ones i bought have 36 white LED's (some have 24 LED's, and some have red LED's) that fit into the standard sockets and simply replace the standard incandescent light globes.

At night, the "tail" light part looks ok (slightly dimmer than standard)... but the "stop" function does not seem nearly as bright as the standard ones. Personally i reckon the LED tail lights that you seee around look far better than standards but obviously you get what you pay for....

So be warned. i havent looked into the legality of these lamps but suspect that because of (what i see as) the lower brightness of these lamps, if push-came-to-shove there may be dramas with the law or at rego time.

I will keep playing with these but i think that i have - to quote my dad - done my dough!
