Default after market steering wheel made steering crap!

today i put on my autotechnica steering wheel and bosskit
took her for a drive and it was horrible like i had no p/s vibrated like hell and making a grinding noise every time i moved the wheel
i have done it properly as i had in all my previous car's
i can now turn the wheel half turn and the wheel's only very slightly move about and inch and before full turn was lock this has me very puzzeled
has anyone with a vn/vp had this problem before?

The boss kit would be too far down the shaft and fouling on the column I would say. Either the collapsible part of the shaft is pushed in or you have the wrong boss kit.

If you look at the back of the boss, you will probably see it is worn a bit where it was touching the column.

To pull the shaft out a bit, put the old wheel back on, put the nut on a couple of threads and then use the wheel like a slide hammer to pull the shaft out. It may only need to come out a couple of mm. These get pushed in when people hammer the shaft to get the wheel off.

I remember reading that if the collapsible part of the column is pushed in, you have to get a new steering column?

Well...technically, yes. But if its only a couple of mm then it should be fine to pull back out.

its all good took the bosskit and the tab on the back that turns the indicator off had grinded into the copper wire stuff about half an inch from a 5 minute drive!
i was a bit ****ty so i grabbed the pliar's and snapped it off chucked the s/wheel back on and took it for a burn problem fixed but i have to turn the indicator off myself now lol
also the colum was in a few mm to far so i did the thing with the stock s/wheel and pulled it out a bit much better to drive even before i got it as it had been in a prang and probly hadnt been fixed
