I've now got SV5000 (16")mags for my VQ and I'm just after some new tyres for the front with a budget of $250-$300.
Since the rims are 7" would it be possible to get 205/55 tyres on them? And would I be better off with those or 225/50's? The rims on the back are 8", so I won't be rotating them.
I'm also wondering where about would I be able to get raised centre caps. The flush one's won't fit on the front because of the wheel bearings.
Tim
Are you sure they are 7s? I thought all SV5000 rims were 8s.
I think most people run 225/50s on 7 inch rims. I have walkinshaw rims (7s) with 225/50s and the tyres seem to be wearing ok. I think from factory the 7" rims came with 205/55 rubber, so maybe its better. 225s will protect your rims a bit better.
Your budget for a pair or per tyre?
The budget is for both tyres. SV5000's came in 7" and 8", I think the 8" rims are alot harder to find though. What tyre pressure should I be using? 36-38psi?
Tim
On a 16" wheel, I'd probably tend toward 36 in the wet, and 40 in the dry. I run 37-38 in mine for all weather conditions, because like everyone else I'm too lazy to change the pressures - but anywhere around there should do you nicely![]()
