Hey guys
been loosing a little bit of water for the past week and a half
anyway today i opened the bonnet to find water all over the firewall and a hissing sound coming from near the thermostat or that region along with a big puddle under the car....
Anyone have any ideas where it may be coming from or had this happen to them?
If it is leaking from around the thermostat housing, your best bet would be to go to Bursons or Repco, and buy yourself a new thermostat and gasket. While you're at it, get yourself a cooler thermostat (around 82 degrees I think. It's worth doing while you're in there.) The only problem is, getting the thermostat out of a VN S1 engine is a bitch and a half, as it's all the way around the back.
You may also want to get yourself a new upper radiator hose, just so you can have everything new around that area, and cross everything off the list of things to replace. Chances are you've either got a loose hose, a torn thermostat gasket, or a cracked housing. I'm betting on the loose hose.

Im starting to lean more towards cracked housing or screwed gasket and screwed thermostat
It only leaks when the system is under presure and when it does it SPRAYS so im assuming the thermostat is stuck closed and building pressure making it spray out from there but ugh job for tomorrow night me thinks![]()
You'll have fun times getting that housing off ^^ I don't remember exactly, but I think if you remove the throttle body it makes things a little easier. Been a while since I worked on an S1 motor though.

Will definetly be taking tb off been way to lazy to pull it out and clean it etc.. lately had the car 6 months before that it sat in a yard for 2 years so still a few niggling things wrong with it =(![]()
mate if it is near the fire wall, also check that is not the heater tap as they have a habit of rusting out. 30-$40 from holden to replace>>>>
Yeah, heater taps (looking at the engine) are on the left hand rail down the bottom. Not really on the firewall. And the heater core wouldn't leak into the engine bay, it would leak into the cabin![]()
