Replacing Chrome Strip On Calais Side Moulds

Has anyone done it?

I've been eyeing off the gear they sell at Supercheap and others in 5metre rolls and this will work a treat for the bumpers, but the side mouldings are one piece with the strip a part of the mould.

Has anyone refurbed theirs and how did you go about it? It'll look **** if I just stick it over the top of the existing strip but I'm unsure how to go about cutting a recess in with the mould still on the car.

Is there another, better option that the chrome look rubber roll sold in the auto parts stores? I was unable to find any chrome look pin striping tape.

I'm not too sure on painting it if I could get away with some replacement tape or similar though. I'll definately keep that thread in mind though.
