Default buying a vn 5.0 what to do

Ok getting a white vn 5 litre with 140,000, dude just spent 1800 on it getting it roadworthy, it's got color coded bumpers that arent into great condition. Im thinking of respraying those, getting the baddest exhaust system i can, it's already lowered so prob just gonna wack my clubby wheels on the front an some 15 inch black stockys on the back.

What else should i be doing? What im lookin for now is just a nice looking car thats the best on fuel it can be without going gas. Thanks.

With stockies on the rear, it won't be a nice looking car. Need all 4 rims.

if you want ecconomy, dont buy a v8..... a v8 is not brought for its economy.. its brought for its tuff sound and alot more power then the v6...... if you want economy, get a v6 and do a full service

The word you are looking for is "Bought" NOT "Brought". And no, stock wheels on the rear does not give you street cred.

im not saying its impossible to get good fuel economy with a v8... im just saying whenever you see a "why is my 5litre getting such bad fuel economy" thread, alot of the people say "you dont buy a v8 for its economy"..

Yeah on the highway V8's do better than most V6, though around the city is the other way around, though its mainly the driver anyways, even if you had a 4 cylinder you can use more than a V8 (if the V8 driven correctly that is lol).

around city im getting 12.3ltr's max which is using less than my vt v6, and im always really giving it to the car aswell, i dont know what the go is with this 5ltr but the engine is in really good condition plus its got heaps more go than my last 5ltr and goes better than any other 5ltr ive driven.

the old man that used to own worked at holden his whole life so im guessing he must have gotten something done to it when he brought it brand new all those years ago

You sure your dash isn't broken 7.8 seems almost impossible to me. I've never seen one go much under 10 on the flatest and smoothest of roads. I've run some reallllllly lean tunes on mine over the years and I've never got it less than 9s. I'll take the challenge of having the quickest stock 5 litre tho :P

Never tested a 5.0 but my GenIIIs regularly went into the 8's between Melb and Albury whilst my GenIV gets mid 9's on the same trip. I would be suprised to see a 5 litre that low though.

Lowest Ive been on a flat road is 9.1 on the highway. My diff gears are different to stock so I dunoo how that would affect it.

well i took my 5ltr out on the highway today just so i couls take a picture, the lowest i got was 7.4 but that didnt last long it mainly stayed around the 7.8 mark and it cant be broken cos when i put my foot down for a bit it starts rising again so its working fine.

im guessing its just the result of a very very well looked after 5ltr and the old man working at holden his whole life got everything done right on it and he drove it properly.

also green foam your cars is a fast stocky cos u got a good tune and did some weight reduction (but ill be hitting you up for a tune soon)

Yeah but stuffed if I can get that kinda fuel ecconomy :!) and I can adjust the fuel so lean that the plugs stay white as paper and still not get that so it's really really odd!. Think my cars still heavier than a VN exec tho thanks to the IRS

I asked how many k's you guys are getting to a tank not whether i should buy a v8 or not if my question is a bout fuel economy.

so what u guys are saying is even if im getting 10litres for every 100kms with an 80 litre tank i should get at least 700-800 k's to a tank on a highway, right? Why is it i've ever heard of someone ever getting that much, or even 600 k's for that matter.

And no, your wrong a car with stockys on the back an rims on the front does look good and tough, i dont do burnouts who gives a fack about some smoke and wasting money on tires lol gheyyyyyy

Cause you wont get that, haha. If I flog the ass out of my SS I can get as low as 280-300K's to a tank.
Stockies on the back just makes the car look pox and you look like your too poor to afford the rears.
