Depends what you want to do? if you want to go faster definatly sell it. With the sale and your saved cash you might get yourself a manual VR 5 litre (at least another VP), if your young and insurance is an issue maybe look for something more stealthy than a 5 litre Commodore

If you can drive a manual, then look for a manual exec 5 litre. Gives you a big head start in go fast if you start with the quickest and lightest model. Spend 500 bucks on one of them DIY style and you will be running quicker than 14.5 1/4 miles. You need to spend big money on the V6 to make the same time. All you need on a 5 litre exec is a big exhaust (that you can make up from a 50 dollar twin system off a VY SS) a cheap retune and CAI. Anything heavy like a Calais or Statesman or electric optioned SS makes it harder

Depends if your willing to sacrifice weight and luxury for tenths of a second down the strip. I mean sure, power windows and big comfy seats are good, but if you really wunna go fast, you don't need them. Sell the 6, buy an 8.

If you want luxury and power, then go the Calais.......almost identical spec but with less weight.

And easier to drive around than a big fat long tank but what would I know, VS statos feel just the same as a VN exec to me except slower

Def go an 8, you wont be disapointed.
If your happy with auto and want all the features go a vs sII stato, they look mint, but rnt the quickest 5ltrs out there.

I put a tune in a VS stato today actually. We went for a cruise and made 9.56l/100 ks on a 104 km long loop outa town down the highway and back home again. Interestingly the trip computer reckons we were using 13l/100 but squeeze the pump as many times as we wanted till fuel was almost comming out, we couldn't fit more than 9.95 litres in it. Just shows those level 3 dashes can go seriously wonky

Sell the Vp and Get A v8 you will never make power out of the tierd old buicks without megga bucks there technology just isn't there.

Wouldn't go anything less than a vp as you have one now. Aim for a vs upwards so re sale value is there, try getting a model worth something not just a plain jane commodore.

Vs Calais,Vr Caprice,Vs Statesman,SS they are all in your price range. You could pick up a Vt Series I 5L and have the best of both worlds,comfort,safety,v8 grunt and insurance shouldn't be too bad. Lots of upgrades from the vt since the vn 5L so its really up to you,if the vp is boring you why go for another six your just wasting money, time and you will never be happy,i sold my calais vn for a vn ss and never have looked back, the series II vn ss is 10x better than my series 1 vn calais so there ones thing to think about if a vt I is not ur cup of tea try go a series II Commodore.

Wouldn't worry about the difference in weight from base model 5L to a statesman /calais your not going to drag it! so why not drive in comfort.

As For fuel economy the 5L will hit you hard as prices for premium are not cheap, have a think about a v8 on gas wouldn't be a smart idea or buy one and convert it as the government grant is a healthy advantage to saving some cash...

All the best for ur upgrade, keep us posted
    Cheers.
