Can't get the seat out in my VP! A piece of metal has broken off where the seat attaches to the rails leaving the seat loose as a goose, moves back and fowards all over the joint (as in the entire seat not just the base or the back).
Trying to take the seat outta the car, but can't get the allan key threads to budge attaching the rails to the floor pan, have been able to loosen one up with the help of a mash hammer, flat head and some wd 40, but it just spins firmly and aint gettin anywhere.. Any suggestions? Are the seats normally difficult to get out? Cheers guys
Nah they come out easy with some good allen keys and something on the end of the key to get some more powaaaaa. They are full of loctite tho so it takes ages to wind them out. You can choose to either be
A. A patient Monk, relax on the floor and slowly undo it
B. Unlesh all your anger and put maximum powa into undoing it in a wild rage
Probably takes the same time either way
It's certainly frustrating, especially when the others have come off easily
I used a hex key socket on mine and it does make life easier but had one that was a right pain, Berlitza05, his old man and myself spent a few hours trying everything to get it out, in the end we cut that bit of the rail off as I wasn't re-using my old seats anyway
It was just turning a little on it's own but would not come up any higher once it hit a certain point
So quick fix if you don't need the seat rail is to hack that bit off and then hold the broken bit right up against the bolt as you loosen it, if you need the rail intact then I wish you good luck as if it's anything like my one you're in for a fun time....
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
i used an allen key with a piece of copper pipe about 25cm long as a breaker bar....worked a treat and they came out no worries!!!
