    Default gearbox problem??

i was driving down the main road between gin gin and bundaberg today and to get out of a dangerous situation i had to stomp my foot down and pour on the power, the car hit 130kmph and started jerking and lost power with each jerk, it nearly felt like the gearbox couldnt make up its mind whet it wanted to do ...anyone have any idea's?

Yes I do. At 130, when you stomped it it wouda kicked down into 2nd gear, then held 2nd til 130 like my old VN, then just as my old VN did, jerked and lost kinda cut in and out while it was at high rpm, its because it wasn't engaging 3rd gear. I had to get a new gearbox to solve the problem.

most likely stuck in 2nd gear and the engine was bouncing on the limiter

yep, i learned the hard way that the tacho on the VN wasn't working properly, it will never read over 5000rpm yet i hit the limiter fairly hard in 2nd gear, almost like hitting a brick wall. fortunatly it was an easy fix for me, jsut hit the clutch a little earlier and shift to 3rd
