VP V6 Calais Auto Gearbox

I have just pulled out the old box (V6 Auto) and bought a second hand one from the wreckers, they have given me a VN box, i have to change the rear drive section and swap with mine, just need to check if the boxes will be the same as they are both MD8 but the VP has 21 written on the side and the VN has 18. What do these numbers mean? and will it be the same?
Another question the hose on top of the box is that a breather or attached somewhere cause it wasn't attached anywhere when i pulled it out just noticed it on the replacement box.

The hose on the top of the box is indeed a breather. Someone else will have to answer the other Q's.

I cant say fully 100%, but It should be fine man. When I changed mine I got a 2nd hand one and it looked different, but went up fine and worked fine. Yes that hose is a breather.
