hey i bought an engine crane yesterday and i wanted to lift out my engine but i was just curious what would i want to attach the crane to like what part of my engine to lift it out and what could i use to attach it with. i was thinkin extractors but im not sure if its a good idea. any other places?
cheers
ive always used seatbelts, they are one of the strongest things you will find
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
whered u tie em to??
could someone help me out asap if possible please.
how would you use a seatbelt if ur using the exhaust manifold bolts into the head?
ok ummmmmm i think im still lost sorry lol.
you bolted it to where the exhaust manifold bolts are?
I have never done it but don't you disconnect the exhaust manifold?
and just wrap the chain round the front and back of the sump?

yeh u do well u dont have to but its easier and thats wot im doing. i think it wood be better to use seatbelts around the sump tho but i dont have spare seatbelts or dono where to get sum really
nah i dont think my motor has been removed previously.
there are brackets? v6 or v8? but mines a vn tho
use the brackets with a seat belt or chains
i have never had that problem and i lift motors all day at work
same here...never ever come accross that problem...what m62vpute stated
those brackets were put there for a reasonand should be used, personally i don't like using exhaust manifold bolt holes for an anchorage/lifting point...stretch the hole or damage the thread ,using a seat belt ...not my preference either wrapping around whole of motor, you really need to have a chain going as some one else stated earlier from left to right or vice versa, gives the engine an even balance using the original engine lifting brackets....i don't know why people take them off

i took mine off for asthetics, but have them available for when the engine needs to come out.

youd wanna make sure you no what order to pull things out in! your supposed to take off the aircon compressor with vn's i think
Don't blame me, It's that damn percadan..
If you ask me, that stuff rots your brain...
And now a word from our new sponsor.. Percadan? oh crap!
where are the brackets located? i think i saw em but im not too sure.
i think my brackets are taken out?
i cant really see them. are they noticeable?
if someone could show me a picture of them that would be really helpfull
cheers
mate if you cant see them they aint there they are fair sized you wont miss em. mate use a chain cant go wrong take a bolt out of each exhaust manifold in opposite corners get a couple of big washes to go over the bolts than put through the chain and bolt them back in as far as you can pretty firm will work a treat and you dont need to take the ac compressor off mate
