I have a 1992 vp executive auto which is giving me a bit of grief. It all started when the crankangle sensor went. I replaced it and also put on a new harmonic balancer and it fixed the problem. I thought all was well but then on my way home one day it started to misfire. The misfiring quickly becomes so bad that the engine shudders and the belt tensioner starts to snap about, and then if i put the engine under any load it trys to and eventually stalls. If i try to start it again while its hot it doesnt sound good, almost like the timing is out???
If I let the engine cool it will start no worrys and run for another 15-20 mins then do it again. I can almost feel it coming on, again it feels like the timing is slightly out.
I borrowed some coil packs off my mates car and the same thing happened, 15-20 mins and it happens again, i put new leads on today and Im still having the same problem.
At no stage has the engine light come on since Ive replaced the crank angle sensor.
Today I noticed that if you use the gears and you are extremely gentle on the gas you can limp it home, i did notice however the exhaust was stupidly hot even the tail pipe was roasting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
